Airplane Lavs and Intuitive Design

On my 9-hour flight home from Germany yesterday I got bored, so what initially began as amusement at the constant flow (pardon the pun) into the lavatories near my extended-legroom aisle seat, turned to frustration at the lack of intuitive design. Have you ever noticed: airline lavatory doors open counterintuitively.

Push, Pull, Poke, Curse, Run?

Push, Pull, Poke, Curse, Run?

You have to push the spring-loaded bi-fold door in while it simultaneously slides it out of the way.  Fully 80% of the hundreds of bathroom bound passengers tried everything but this technique.  They poked, slapped, pulled, fiddled with, and swore at the door but almost none of them got it on the first try.  This is a lack of intuitive design.

Here at PBJ Merch Co. we strive to offer clients intuitive design services.  You tell us about an event, or audience you are trying to incentivize and we will come up with the right product and DESIGN it in the right way. So, that when your audience receives their gift, none of them wonder how to use it. – R. Patterson
